Reputed to be one of the most challenging routes to sail in the world due to its narrowness, the Magellan Strait, named after the Portuguese explorer Ferdinand Magellan and flanked by the rugged mountains of southern Chile, is sure to be an exhilarating experience. As Bolette navigates her route through the glacial landscapes of the Chilean Fjords, from her decks, you'll be able to marvel at the rugged terrain, surrounded by spectacular blue-tinged glaciers, snow-capped mountain peaks, frozen waterfalls, and deep inlets at every turn. Contrasting sharply with these icy surroundings, the vast plains of Africa offer opportunities to go in search of the Big Five or be amazed by the Namib desert, the oldest in the world.

Disembarking when your ship's at anchor is a very different experience to when it's docked portside. Getting ashore in this instance often involves the use of the ship's tender, which is accessed via the steps of a secure gangway.
