Your cruise at a glance

Hand-crafted highlights

Embark on a journey through beautiful fjords, gliding along serene waterways framed by towering mountains and cascading waterfalls. You’ll sail Sognefjord, Norway’s longest fjord, and make a special diversion along Eresfjord, only accessible to smaller ships. Immerse yourself in friluftsliv, the Norwegian concept of embracing outdoor living, with chances to hike with a local expert to the Briksdal Glacier, kayak on the glassy waters of the fjords, and get lost amidst the breathtaking scenery of Jotunheimen National Park. Experience how the challenging landscapes of the fjords are navigated by riding the Loen Skylift and Rauma Railway and traversing the renowned mountain pass of Trollstigen Troll Path.

Highlights

Sognefjord

Witness Mountainous Fjord Landscapes

We have hand-crafted this Norwegian Fjords cruise to showcase some of the most picturesque fjord landscapes on offer. From the decks of Balmoral, you can take in sights of steely grey mountains and cascading waterfalls as we sail along the likes of Lustrafjord, Nordfjord, the size-restricted Eresfjord and Romsdalfjord. Our call into Skjolden will ensure you are perfectly placed to reach the Nigardsbreen Glacier, while Briksdal Glacier and the famous Troll Path can be reached from Olden and Åndalsnes respectively.

Boat on Norwegian Fjord

Experience the Norwegian Concept of Friluftsliv

Translating loosely to ‘open-air living’, the Norwegian concept of Friluftsliv is an appreciation of spending time outdoors while connecting with nature. It encourages activities such as hiking, fishing and boating across all seasons, promoting physical and mental wellbeing. Deeply rooted in the Norwegian culture, it is considered an essential part of the country’s identity. For this itinerary, we have included calls into destinations which will allow you to experience this for yourself, whether you would like to hike across the fjordlands or join a local fisherman for a spot of fishing on a tranquil lake.

The Atlantic Ocean Road

Discover Innovative Fjordland Engineering

The complex Norwegian landscape encompasses mountainous terrain, steep, narrow fjords, and coastal areas and is subject to harsh climates, including long winters and heavy snowfall, proving difficult for engineering plans to traverse the landscape to be introduced. However, over the years, Norwegian engineers have designed innovative ways to access some of the country’s most remote areas. Throughout this cruise, you can discover some of these engineering marvels for yourself. In Olden, you can take the Loen Skylift to the top of Mount Hoven, a near-vertical ascent which allows access to pristine hiking trails overlooking Nordfjord’s breathtaking landscapes. Meanwhile, the Rauma Railway, Trollstigen, a renowned mountain pass located in the Sunnmøre region, and the famous Atlantic Ocean Road can be reached from Åndalsnes.
