Embark on an enchanting exploration of the iconic landscapes of Britain and France, from the geological wonders of the Jurassic Coast and the majestic Durdle Door to the historic Mont Saint-Michel in France, a medieval marvel rising from the sea. This cruise to France and around the coastlines of Britain offers the chance for you to immerse yourself in the Celtic spirit of St Malo, where Breton and Gallo languages thrive alongside vibrant fishing traditions and spirited Breton dancing, which celebrates Celtic heritage with music. Meanwhile, experience local life in Dorset and Cornwall, as you sample cider, cheddar, Cornish pasties and cream tea. There will be chances to delve into botanical horticulture with visits to the likes of Monet’s House and Gardens in France and the Lost Gardens of Heligan in Cornwall.

Highlights

Mont St. Michel cathedral, Normandy, UK

Iconic Coastal Scenery

This cruise aboard Bolette has been designed to showcase the beauty of the southern UK and France. The UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Jurassic Coast is a special stretch of coastline through Dorset and Devon and is home to the iconic arch of Durdle Door, formed when the power of the sea forged a hole through the middle of the rocks thousands of years ago. As you cruise to Normandy, join us on a tour to explore the unique monument of Mont St. Michel, which temporarily becomes an island during high tide. The rock formations of Etretat are similar to those of Durdle Door, where extraordinary arches have been carved from the chalk cliffs, and are a testament to the evolving Normandy coast.

Discover local lifestyles

The destinations on this cruise have a distinct Celtic influence; enjoy discovering the Breton language of Brezhoneg still spoken in some communities in Brittany, and participate in traditional Breton dancing such as An Dro, celebrating the Celtic heritage of the region. The cuisine in this part of France boasts a rich legacy, where seafood, galettes and the decadent kouign-amann pastry are popular and must surely be sampled on your visit. The south of the UK offers a wonderfully delicious range of foods that, while ubiquitous, are mainly associated with Cornwall, Dorset and Devon, such as cream teas (and in which order the jam and cream should be placed) Dorset Knob biscuits and a variety of local cheeses, including the incomparable Dorset Blue.

Eden Project, UK

Botanical Horticulture

There are a number of outstanding botanical places of interest in the south of England and Normandy. Abbotsbury Subtropical Gardens in Weymouth hide an enchanting walled garden, with a treasure-trove of exotic and unusual plants and flowers; while the Eden Project is a beautiful global garden with outdoor gardens, exhibits and storytelling areas, along with rare plants that can be grown in the unique biomes dedicated to different regions of the world. Cornwall is also home to the magical gardens and woodland walks of the Lost Gardens of Heligan, so-called as they were lost to the world for 70 years, and ‘rediscovered’ in 1990. Monet's Garden at Giverny, created by Monet himself, famous for its lily ponds and Japanese-inspired garden, is a colourful monument to the artist.
