Your cruise from Cape Town will take you on a journey to discover the wine routes of South Africa, in particular the world-famous Stellenbosch town and wine estate, and the chance to encounter the Big Five and other African wildlife on a specially arranged game drive. You will be able to explore the fascinating town of Lüderitz, which looks to be lost in time as it sits between the Namib Desert and the South Atlantic coast, before experiencing the outstanding wildlife of Walvis Bay, renowned for its lagoon that attracts thousands of flamingoes and pelicans. The remote island of St. Helena has a uniquely diverse heritage and offers remarkable vistas from its mountainous peaks. Here, you'll be able to explore it's Georgian town, stop to chat with friendly islanders known as 'Saints', and sample St. Helenian cuisine, which reflects the island's diverse Portuguese, British, Chinese, and African influences, including St. Helena fishcakes, grilled wahoo steak, and meat or poultry curries accompanied by pilau rice, known as plo.

Explore African Landscapes
The African environment is made up of a variety of habitats and terrains, ranging from Table Mountain and Signal Hill in Cape Town to the enormous deserts of the Kalahari and Namibia. From Lüderitz, you can explore the Ghost Town of Kolmanskop, which was originally established when a railway worker spotted a diamond in the early 1900s. It immediately became a thriving diamond mining town, but after World War I, diamond sales plummeted, and the town shut down. Today, it stands as a memorial to a bygone colonial regime. Home to Swakopmund Lagoon and tidal flood plains, the Walvis Bay Wetlands, which attract thousands of pelicans and flamingos to its coasts, are among the most important coastal wetlands in Southern Africa.
Discover Diverse African Cultures
On this journey onboard Bolette, you will have the opportunity to immerse yourself in the diverse cultures of each exciting destination you visit. On St. Helena, the residents, known as Saints, are especially hospitable and will welcome you to spend time talking with them and learning about their daily life. While exploring, try St. Helena White Lion Rum or Cactus Pear Spirit Tungi, distilled on the island, or savour local foods like steamed pudding or Plo, a rice-based dish similar to paella but more aromatic and spicy. Meanwhile, in Dakar, you can immerse yourself in Senegalese culture by attending a lively folklore performance by the Lebou ethnic minority, whose civilisation is based on ancestral spirits.

Disembarking when your ship's at anchor is a very different experience to when it's docked portside. Getting ashore in this instance often involves the use of the ship's tender, which is accessed via the steps of a secure gangway.
