Your cruise at a glance

Hand-crafted highlights

Our Journey Planners have hand-crafted this cruise to showcase the rugged beauty of Iberia. Witness the striking sight of north Africa’s Rif Mountains; discover the Andalusian Ronda Mountains; and from Lisbon, explore the traditional town of Sintra, set amongst the towering pine trees of Serra da Sintra. Immerse yourself in the Iberian way of life by sampling the traditional Spanish dish of Gazpacho, authentic Andalusian tapas, accompanied by the warming taste of Jerez sherry; or the buttery, flaky pastry of a pastéis de nata, as you listen to the soulful notes of Fado music. Uncover rich Moorish history, evident in impressive architecture such as Málaga’s Alcazaba and Lisbon’s São Jorge Castle.

Highlights

Rif mountains, Morocco

Seek out lush mountains and valleys

Your Iberia cruise has been meticulously crafted by our team to offer you the opportunity to discover lush mountain peaks and deep valleys. Your journey begins with the Rif Mountains, near Tangier, with views of limestone cliffs, gorges, valleys and meandering streams; before the untamed landscapes of the Andalucian Ronda Mountains beckon, where the town is separated by the world-renowned Puente Nuevo bridge. From Lisbon, join us on a tour to the picturesque town of Sintra, set high in the hills and surrounded by thick pine forests and ferns, topped with the fairytale-like Pena Palace. You will also have the chance to climb to the top of the Rock in Gibraltar and St. Michael's Cave, filled with uniquely formed stalactites and stalagmites.

Spanish dancers, Flamenco

The Iberian way of life

Iberia is a melting pot of distinctive cultures and traditions, with each country influenced by unique cuisines and specialities. In Malaga, enjoy the traditional Spanish cold soup, Gazpacho, made from fresh tomatoes, garlic and vegetables; while in Cadiz, experience the sultry beat of the Flamenco, as the dancers tell their emotional story through song and dance; relish authentic Andalucian tapas such as patatas bravas (fried potatoes with fiery sauce) or Gambas al Ajillo (garlic-infused prawns) with family and friends, alongside the warming flavours of Jerez Sherry. In Lisbon, seek out the delectable pastéis de nata, and enjoy a ride on the iconic trams around the city.

Alcazaba fortress overlooking the city, Malaga, Spain

Rich Moorish history

Join us on tours to discover how the culture of the Iberian Peninsula was significantly shaped by the Moors on this Bolette cruise, intrinsically connecting all of the destinations you will visit. Leaving lasting legacies in architecture, language and culture during the medieval period, the Moors influenced the medina in Tangier with its whitewashed buildings, narrow winding streets and intricate tile work; while Malaga is home to the imposing Alcazaba fortress which overlooks the city, offering insights into Moorish architecture and urban planning. The castle at the peak of the Rock of Gibraltar is a prominent Moorish landmark, while the cities of Cadiz and Lisbon both have areas firmly influenced by the Moors, including the Torre Tavira watchtower and the Alfama District, respectively.
