Your cruise at a glance

Hand-crafted highlights

Seasonal wonders abound on this springtime sailing to Norway, particularly waterfalls, which are at their strongest during this time of year. Your captain will guide Borealis on a special diversion into Maurangerfjord to witness the magnificent Fureberg Waterfall, while Eidfjord is your gateway to Vøringfoss Waterfall. Insightful experiences await in Bergen and Olden, where you can hike to the top of Mount Fløyen with a local and visit the Briksdal Glacier accompanied by a knowledgeable expert. You’ll also have the chance to ride the iconic Flåm Railway from Vikøyri, weaving through picturesque landscapes and up high into the mountains. Borealis will also make another diversion to show you the size-restricted Lysefjord, and beautiful Sognefjord too.

Highlights

A majestic view of Vøringfossen, a powerful waterfall surrounded by rocky cliffs in Norway.

Experience magnificent fjords landscapes

Your cruise aboard Borealis has been specially timed for you to witness the magificence of the Norwegian Fjords at this special time of year. Norwegians experience vårfølelse, enjoying the positive feelings that spring makes us feel, such as hearing birdsong or seeing waterfalls melting in the warmth of the sun. Voringfoss and Furebergfossen waterfalls cascade down cliff faces between the lush greenery into the fjords below, creating a wonderful cacophony of sound, contrasting perfectly with the icy landscapes of Brisksdal Glacier, reached from the fjordside town of Olden. Carved through mountain peaks and steep cliffs, Hardangerfjord and Nordfjord weave their way past waterside villages and verdant scenery, while Sognefjord offers breathtaking landscapes that seem to have been taken from a painting with tiny villages reflected in its serene waters, set against a backdrop of majestic mountains. The towering grey cliffs of Lysefjord are home to Preikstolen (Pulpit Rock), which juts out over the fjord's edge at 604 metres above sea level, providing panoramic views of the surrounding area.

Kayaking in Lysefjord, Norway

Experience friluftsliv in spring

Friluftsliv is a wonderful Norwegian concept of outdoor living and spending time connecting with nature, and this cruise offers you a number of opportunities to fully immerse yourself in outdoor pursuits. Hiking through Norway's lush landscapes will unveil breathtaking vistas of fjords and mountains, while kayaking on Nordfjord offers you a unique perspective of the surrounding steep cliffs and tumbling waterfalls. From Olden, you will have the chance to explore spectacular scenery and cultural landmarks in the town by e-bike; or experience innovative ways Norwegians have learned to cross mountainous terrain, such as in Bergen, by taking the Funicular Railway to the top of Mount Fløyen for spectacular views across ‘the city of seven mountains’ and the picturesque fjords below, or the Flåm Railway from Vikøyri, said to be one of the world’s most beautiful train journeys, taking you past sparkling blue rivers and up to mountain peaks.
