As Borealis cruises Norway’s longest fjord, Sognefjord, and the size-restricted Fjærlandsfjord, you will be superbly placed to spend the spring Bank Holiday weekend admiring Norway’s remarkable landscapes of powerful waterfalls, steep cliffs, and waterside villages.

Your Borealis cruise to Norway has been planned for you to experience the beauty of the fjords in spring, where Norwegians encapsulate their excitement in vårfølelse, welcoming spring as snow has melted on the mountains, waterfalls are becoming stronger, and the sun is warmer. Known as the King of the Fjords, Sognefjord's forested hillsides roll down to deep blue tranquil waters and tiny villages dotted along the fjord edge. Experience a boat tour along UNESCO-listed Naerøyfjord with remarkable views of towering mountains and tumbling waterfalls, while Fjaerlandsfjord, with its peaceful surroundings, mirror-like waters, and glacier-carved valleys, invites exploration.
Embrace Friluftsliv
The Norwegian concept of embracing spending time outdoors is known as Friluftsliv and encompasses a diverse range of activities to enjoy, whatever the season or weather. Hiking through Norway's scenic landscapes offers outstanding views across fjords and mountains, while kayaking along serene fjords gives you the chance to see tumbling waterfalls and lush mountains from the unique perspective of the water. From Bergen, a journey on the funicular railway to the top of Mount Fløyen with views across the surrounding fjords is not to be missed, or from Vikøyri, Flåm Railway is said to be one of the world’s most beautiful train journeys, taking you past sparkling blue rivers and up to mountain peaks.

UK passport holders will need visas for certain Fred. Olsen cruise holidays and will be advised at the time of booking. On certain sailings we offer two types of cruise fares; Freedom and Saver Fares.

Disembarking when your ship's at anchor is a very different experience to when it's docked portside. Getting ashore in this instance often involves the use of the ship's tender, which is accessed via the steps of a secure gangway.
