Your cruise at a glance

Hand-crafted highlights

This short Bank Holiday cruise is ideal for exploring the rugged islands of the Hebrides while getting up close to nature and immersing yourself in Gaelic culture. Explore the diverse scenery on the Isle of Harris, ranging from rugged countryside to sweeping beaches, while Portree is your gateway to the Isle of Skye’s wild landscapes, including the iconic rocky outcrop known as the Old Man of Storr. In Stornoway, you will have the opportunity to uncover the traditions of the Western Isles, such as crofting, weaving, or trying a drop of local whisky. Your time at sea is set to be just as rewarding, as Bolette sails past sites such as the Small Isles and Fingal’s Cave, and you can also search for marine life from Bolette with the help of conservationists from wildlife charity ORCA.

Highlights

Guests looking out from deck to Fingal's cave

Explore the rugged Hebridean Islands

Scattered off Scotland's west coast, the Outer Hbrides offer dramatic Atlantic landscapes that have been shaped by ancient geological forces and folklore. As Bolette cruises by Fingal's Cave, you can witness its distinctive and symmetrical columns formed millions of years ago by volcanic eruptions and hear tales of how giant Finn McCool sheltered here from his arch rival Benandonner, while the Isle of Skye enchants with its soaring Cuillin Mountains and mist-shrouded lochs. From Portree, marvel at the intriguing rocky outcrop known as the Old Man of Storr or explore the 13th-century Castle of Dunvegan. Meanwhile, join us on deck as Bolette sails close enough to the Small Isles of Rum, Eigg, Muck, and Canna for you to admire their ruggedly beautiful landscapes.

Discover the Hebridean way of life

While cruising the Scottish Isles on board Bolette, you will have the chance to thoroughly immerse yourself in island life and traditional Gaelic customs based around nature and Scotland's heritage. Discover the history of the Gaelic language in Stornoway, including how the language is preserved in local communities, enjoy a performance of Gaelic song, or participate in a lively Ceilidh, which unites islanders in celebrations of music and dance. You will also be able to visit a local crofter who will share traditions of the crofting community, sample locally-produced whisky at the Isle of Harris distillery, or discover how Harris Tweed is spun, and create your own piece.
