What's included and what's not included in the price of a cruise?
At Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines we do our utmost to ensure our cruise holidays are not just hugely enjoyable, but great value too. The benefits included in each cruise package are listed below and, as you'll see, there's a lot - so you can just relax and get on with having a good time!
What restrictions should I expect with shore tour options if I'm in a wheelchair?
Unless able to board and alight a vehicle unassisted, it is not usually possible for wheelchair users to participate in organised shore tours.
Do you charge a single supplement?
For cruise guests travelling on their own, we offer a number of single occupancy cabins on each of our cruise ships. Alternatively (or if the single cabins are sold out) solo guests can occupy a twin cabin. All of our twin cabins have a single supplement charge.

What's included in the Suite Dreams package?
Our Suite Dreams package comes with our compliments in selected Suite grades*. On arrival, you’ll be welcomed with a bottle of sparkling wine and a fresh fruit bowl – which will be topped-up anytime during your cruise at your request.
Do your cruises accommodate children?
We welcome younger guests on board Bolette and Balmoral, aged between 12 months and 17. On peak-time holiday cruises, our Little Skippers Club keeps children between 5 and 11 years old entertained with a variety of fun activities. They will enjoy arts and crafts, discos, treasure hunts and loads more, all run by our friendly team of hosts and hostesses*.
Can I bring a guide dog/assistance dog on board?
Guide dogs (assistance dogs) are warmly welcomed on board all our cruise ships. 
Do you provide shuttle buses in ports where it is not possible to walk to the town centre?
When your ship is berthed some distance from the centre of your destination, a convenient shuttle bus service is often provided to save you money on taxi fares. All day tickets (for which a small charge applies) can be bought from Guest Services. However, for those guests who are booked on a Freedom Fare offer, this charge is included.
How do I enquire about lost property or luggage?
If you are unfortunate enough to discover that you've lost an item of personal property during your cruise, you may be able to trace it by contacting our Guest Relations Department on 01473 746 177, or by e-mail at guest.relations@fredolsen.co.uk.
Can I go ashore independently?
Exploration is a big part of your cruise holiday with Fred. Olsen, so we encourage you to go shoreside whether independently or on a tour. We will advise guests of any destinations that cannot be explored independently, where you need to be in possession of the relevant visas.
Are there any visa requirements I need to be aware of?
Visa and health requirements can change at any time. It is your own responsibility to ensure that you check with a professionally qualified source and comply with such requirements. UK passport holders will need visas for certain Fred. Olsen cruise holidays and will be advised at the time of booking. Your cruise booking information will also detail any requirements applicable to your holiday.
Do you have a luggage handling company?
When you cruise with Fred. Olsen, why not let one of our recommended luggage handling service providers take care of your bags? They'll collect them from your home before you leave, and securely deliver them directly to your cabin on board. They'll do the same on the way home, too. 
Do I need a passport to go on a cruise?
It is a condition of carriage that all guests embarking on a cruise holiday in foreign waters must hold a full and valid passport that conforms to the entry requirements of each destination visited, and is valid for at least 6 months after the date of return to the UK. For guests sailing on a British Isles cruise, photo ID is accepted.
What's the difference between Freedom and Saver fares?
On certain sailings we offer two types of cruise fares; Freedom and Saver Fares.
I'm travelling alone, how will I get to meet people?
Our single guests feel right at home on board our ships; Fred. Olsen have the reputation of sailing the friendliest fleet afloat. 
How long will we be docked in each port of call?
Details of your itinerary will be available on the relevant cruise page, detailing early/late am/pm for each port of call.
What's the weather like in Norway?
The ideal time to visit the stunning Norwegian Fjords is during the summer months, when temperatures can easily reach a pleasant 25 degrees. For those guests cruising to Northern Norway, or in search of the Northern Lights, layers and warm ski type clothing is best.
Do your ships have cabins adapted for wheelchair users?
All of our cruise ships feature cabins specially adapted for wheelchair and rollator use.
What are your opening hours?
The Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines' Head Office is open daily and our team of friendly cruise advisors are ready to offer advice, answer your queries and help you book your perfect cruise holiday.
What is The Olsen Way Promise?
If you favour a welcoming, ‘home-from-home’ atmosphere, friendly, smiling staff and like-minded fellow guests with whom you can share a good story or two, you’ll likely find Fred. Olsen to your taste. You don’t have to take our word for it though: we’re so confident that you’ll like cruising with us that we offer our Enjoyment Promise as standard.
Do we have to go through immigration at each port on our cruise?
No, you are not required to pass through Immigration at every port of call on your cruise, as you will have already supplied us with your passport details on your Guest Information Form.
How much luggage can I take on board?
Our cruises from UK ports offer a generous 200lbs (90kgs) of luggage.
What currencies will I need to take on my cruise?
The currency you need during your cruise will depend on the destinations on your itinerary. The on board currency for cash payments is Sterling.
What can I expect from a RIB tour experience?
Our RIBs (Rigid Inflatable Boats) are the latest enhancement to our fleet of ocean-going ships. These exciting craft take guests away from the tourist trail to see natural wonders, stunning beaches and spectacular coastlines.
Do I need a Child Travel Consent Form?
If you plan to travel with a child under 16 and you are not their parent or legal guardian – or, if you and the child have different surnames you will need to complete a Travel Consent Form.
The price of my cruise has gone down in price since I booked, why is that?
We encourage all of our guests to book their cruise with us in advance. This means you will sail on the itinerary of your choice, in your chosen cabin grade and with other benefits available to you like a choice of dining times and the first chance to book your chosen destination tours – it also means you will have something in the diary to look forward to!
How do I prevent seasickness?
It's wise to be prepared if you think you could have motion sickness or seasickness while on a cruise.
How do I get a refund for an item bought in the on board shop?
Items in our on board shops are provided by Harding Retail, who take great care to ensure your purchase is absolutely perfect.
