How do I prevent seasickness?

It's wise to be prepared if you think you could have motion sickness or seasickness while on a cruise. There are numerous natural, over-the-counter, and prescription medications available that you may find helpful. Please make sure you include your preferred seasickness medication in your hand luggage and take it as directed, which may mean a few hours before your ship sails.

Location can make a difference. We recommend booking a cabin in the middle of the ship, as the closer you are to its centre and the water line, the less likely you are to feel movement. Alternatively, a suite with a balcony may be better suited to you, so that you can look at the horizon which can reduce feelings of motion sickness and also offer you fresh air.

Some people suggest eating small amounts of green apples or ginger biscuits, or sipping on a ginger ale to help ease your symptoms, but the main thing is to keep well hydrated and to eat little and often, which has been proven to reduce motion sickness symptoms.

Of course, you can always visit the medical centre on board your ship if you're not feeling well.
